Overview
Conformal Antennas, which often aim to replicate the performance of conventional or protruding antennas, but in a form factor that is flush or near flush to the aircraft skin, are available in a wide variety of shapes and sizes as necessitated to meet the outer mold line of specific airframes. Driven by a variety of factors including cross-section considerations and aerodynamic needs, conformal antennas have become standard equipment on fighter aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), hypersonics and conventional missiles, as well as launch vehicles.
CAES designs and manufactures conformal antenna solutions for all of these respective platforms.
For jet fighters and UAVs, CAES offers a family of conformal antennas that provide for various functions including:
- Altimeter
- Identification Friend or Foe (IFF)
- GPS
- Missile Illumination
- Landing Aids
For missiles and launch vehicles, CAES offers a family of GPS, Datalink, Flight Termination, and Telemetry Conformal Antennas that will survive the severe environments associated with these platforms. These antennas can be provided in discrete packages or in a wraparound configuration, depending upon the platform dimensions and radiation pattern coverage requirements.
Although conformal antennas are generally unique to the size and shape needed to suit a specific platform, CAES Conformal Antennas can be readily adapted to suit customer requirements.
